Ok, this definitely deserves a comment - GREAT LIST! I've been a RSS subscriber to your blog for a while and haven't commented, but this is a great list. It's funny, the Aceyalone "Moonlight Skies" was the first Goapele track I head back in like 2004/5 which got me hooked on her.

There are so many gems in this list, there are a few on here that I don't have (ie. Diane Birch "Fire Escape") that are immediately going in my collection.

It's unlikely I will cover M.I.A. on the blog. She's already reached a certain level of success. I try to focus solely on those artists who haven't "made it" just yet. I will, however, include free music from M.I.A. whenever I come across it.

it's a nice enough indie sound, but not so different than a lot of weekend indie club bands... personally, the intros are way too long and the guitar mix makes it stand out too much instead of a nice blend with the bass and percussion... just doesn't let the nice vocals reach out front... words were a bit hard to understand, with unusal pauses in the lyrics where there should be singing; i thought... definitely has potential, but a lotta work on the sound being produced before anyone will hear what's being said beyond their third beer... good luck with it...

Super cool post. I would say my greatest unsung hero is probably the band Green on Red. Sadly, I can't articulate why. Maybe it's because they simply kept straightforward roots rock alive at a time when everyone else was going all 80s and the rock scene was doing hair. I just love the band, though...

Don't forget the fantastic work that Angela McCluskey has done with LA chillout duo, Paul & Price! Last year they released a great single called "Believing," and a few years back I was obsessed with their song, "I Adore You." Actually I still kinda am...
